SOUTH BAY SANDBLASTING & TANK CLEANING, INC. located in San Diego, CA shipyard related subcontractor looking to hire a Shipyard Insulator.

Job Summary

An Insulator installs insulating materials to shipboard equipment and components. Candidate will be performing routine physical labor, such as moving material, tools, and/or equipment, cleaning equipment, machinery, and work areas. May be required to perform additional duties as deems necessary by the Production manager for the completion of the job in a safe and timely manner.

Must be in San Diego, CA we are not looking to relocate candidates at this time.

Responsibilities:

• Performs various physical duties as assigned.
• Apply remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment, to help control noise and maintain temperatures.
• Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement, or asphalt mastic.
• Fit insulation around obstructions, and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required.
• Use proper PPE.
• Effectively using heavy and light equipment, depending on the jobsite/assignment
• Implement and follow the company's safety, quality, and environmental policies

Qualifications:

• Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
• Attentive to detail and alert always to ensure safety
• Able to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers
• Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to safely operate various vehicles and equipment
• Previous experience, especially in a particular industry, preferred.

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED, B.A., Technical/Vocational trade school, or apprenticeship

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

Work is conducted indoors and outdoors frequently exposed to prevailing weather conditions. Work indoor or aboard vessel which may have fumes, chemicals, and heat as well as noise and dust present depending upon the location of work. Safety equipment required.

The individual must be able to frequently climb inclined stairways and vertically. Work aboard the vessels can be strenuous and sometimes hazardous. Dynamic, fast-paced outdoor setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.

Other requirements:

All positions require a pre-employment medical test. This employer participates in E-Verify. Must be able to qualify for DBIDS security clearance. Ability to read technical English is a must. U.S. Citizenship is preferred (for some work locations it is required). Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
