Job Description

A position is available for an experienced educator specializing in supporting visually impaired students at the elementary level. This role involves delivering tailored instruction and individualized support to enhance the learning experience for young learners with visual impairments.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing one-on-one instruction to a kindergarten student with visual impairment
• Conducting four 90-minute instructional sessions per week, focusing on specialized strategies for visual development and academic success
• Collaborating closely with a one-on-one assistant to implement individualized education plans effectively
• Allocating approximately six hours weekly for direct instruction and two hours for indirect tasks such as planning and documentation
• Utilizing Spanish language skills fully to communicate and deliver instruction effectively in a bilingual setting

Qualifications and desired experience:

• Certification or substantial experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
• Demonstrated ability to work individually with young students, particularly in early elementary grades
• Fluency in Spanish, both spoken and written, to support bilingual instruction
• Strong skills in adapting educational content to meet the needs of visually impaired learners
• Effective collaboration with paraprofessionals or assistants to enhance student outcomes

This contract position aligns with the traditional school calendar (NSY) and is situated in Marion, NC. The role emphasizes individualized instruction, specialized methodologies, and partnership with support staff to provide a comprehensive educational experience.
