As a Senior Tax Accountant , you will be responsible for (i) overseeing a variety of tax-related functions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, (ii) maintaining fixed asset records, and (iii) assisting with other accounting functions as assigned by the Controller.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and filing of sales/use, property tax, local business taxes, and other indirect tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
• Support the outsourced tax preparer (CPA firm) in federal and multistate income tax compliance for corporations, including data modeling, analysis, and tax return preparation
• Compile and reconcile tax data from the general ledger for all legal entities to support accurate return preparation
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax provision calculations and related reporting
• Collaborate with senior management to develop tax-efficient strategies and advise on the tax implications of business decisions (including mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings)
• Provide support for internal and external audits across all tax areas (income, sales/use, property), ensuring accurate documentation and communication with auditors, business units, customers, third-party consultants, and state auditors.
• Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements within the Indirect Tax department to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate compliance risks
• Conduct thorough tax research and document tax positions to uncover opportunities for tax savings, minimize risks, and ensure compliance
• Lead the fixed asset accounting function, including reviewing capital expenditures, placing assets into service, preparing month-end journal entries, calculating depreciation, and conducting variance analysis
• Other accounting functions and tasks may be assigned by the Controller

Qualifications And Skills

• Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance or related field
• 5+ years of tax accounting experience with emphasis in compliance, provision, reporting and audit in medium to large size companies
• At least 2 year of experience in Sales and Use Tax or Property Tax in a multi-jurisdictional environment
• In-depth technical knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws
• Strong technical literacy, particularly with advance-level proficiency in Excel and high proficiency in ERP systems
• Effective communicator, both verbal and written
• Great interpersonal skills and able to work with all levels of the organization
• Problem solver, able to multi-task and work independently with minimum supervision
• Certified Public Accountant is preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
