Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a SQL Database Administrator (DBA) and Data Analyst with a passion for data infrastructure and reporting. This role will be critical in maintaining and optimizing the company’s SQL infrastructure while aggregating data from various sources to create a unified solution. The position allows you to directly contribute to scaling the organization’s data workflows toward cloud-based solutions and improving reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities

SQL Infrastructure Management:

  • Build and maintain the company's SQL Server infrastructure, including SQL replication and maintenance plans.
  • Ensure optimal database security and performance.

Reporting Solutions:

  • Develop and optimize high-level reporting solutions using SSRS and Crystal Reports .
  • Support reporting needs for stakeholders across various departments.

Data Integration & Aggregation:

  • Combine, aggregate, and centralize data from multiple legacy systems into one unified data mart.
  • Assist in designing initial ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes without a dedicated tool.

Cloud Transition:

  • Help drive database transitions toward cloud-based solutions to scale operations beyond the company’s network.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with development and business teams to understand reporting/data needs and deliver cohesive solutions.
  • Provide support, troubleshooting, and technical expertise to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency with SQL Server management, including replication, security, and maintenance plans.
  • Hands-on experience with SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and Crystal Reports .
  • Strong knowledge of data integration and ETL processes.
  • Ability to aggregate data and create a data mart without a dedicated data lake infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps) for enhanced reporting and collaboration.
  • Experience transitioning database solutions to cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., Azure or AWS).
  • Industry knowledge in maritime or logistics is highly desirable.

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to work well in a hybrid team environment, with the flexibility to be onsite during the critical first few weeks.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in synthesizing technical details into actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Adept at problem-solving and navigating legacy systems while planning for future scalability.
