Patient Care Tech (PCT) Sitters Suicidal Ideation (Full Time/Days)

Join the Texas Health Dallas team as a Patient Care Tech (PCT) Sitters focusing on Suicidal Ideation. This full?time day position offers self?scheduling and opportunities for growth.

Work location: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Ln., Dallas, TX 75231

Work hours: Full Time Days (7A?7P); three 12?hour shifts per week (36 hours), with alternate weekend and holiday coverage.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 1 year PCT experience in an acute setting preferred.
• PCT Training Program: TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program, or THR approved program. Certification not required to maintain after hire; upon hire required.
• EMT Emergency Medical Technician with military medical training equivalent (equivalent to EMT?B). Upon hire required.
• Other nursing students who completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program. Upon hire required.
• Other 1 year applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon hire required.
• BCLS Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to independent patient care; quarterly maintenance required.
• CPI Crisis Prevention Intervention Training; maintained annually (90 days).
• Organizational skills, positive interpersonal skills, good verbal and written communication.
• Nursing students who incomplete course of study but completed fundamentals and EMTs lacking formal status may continue if they prove skills in PCT position.

What You Will Do

Patient Care Techs (PCT) provide an excellent patient healthcare experience at each Texas Health site. They offer basic patient care under nursing staff direction, including feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, moving patients, or changing linens, and may transfer or transport patients. Roles may include nursing care attendants, nursing aides, and nursing attendants.

Essential Functions

• Provide assistance to patients according to the care plan.
• Collect patient data and report significant findings to the nurse.
• Assist in admission, transfer, discharge.
• Provide and revise patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.
• Perform technical procedures safely and proficiently.
• Take action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
• Enter orders into computer or manual system, when applicable.
• Document accurately and appropriately.
• In collaboration/consultation with the nurse, adapt care to reflect patient population.
• In collaboration/consultation with the nurse, incorporate cultural/religious needs and beliefs into care.
• Keep patient environment clean and maintain a safe environment.
• Anticipate patient/family and visitor needs and take action to meet those needs, rounding as appropriate.
