Medical Receptionist / Medical Assistant

Salary: $15-$17/hour, negotiable based on experience

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Medical Receptionist / Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our patients, managing both administrative and clinical tasks to ensure smooth and efficient office operations. Key Responsibilities

Administrative:

• Greet and check in patients upon arrival in a professional and friendly manner.
• Manage a multi-line phone system, directing calls and taking messages accurately.
• Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments to optimize the provider's calendar.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility, collect co-payments, and process financial transactions.

• Maintain and update patient medical records, adhering strictly to HIPAA guidelines.
• Handle administrative tasks, including correspondence, faxing, and filing.
• Ensure the reception and waiting areas are clean, organized, and welcoming for patients.

Clinical:

• Prepare patients for examinations by recording vital signs and documenting basic medical history.
• Assist physicians and other healthcare providers during medical examinations and procedures.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing, as instructed.
• Administer injections or medications as directed by a provider and within the scope of state law.
• Prepare, clean, and restock treatment rooms, and sterilize medical instruments.
• Provide clear and compassionate instructions to patients regarding medications or special dietary needs.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: High school diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in a medical office setting is required.
• Certification: Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) is a plus but not required.
• CPR: Current CPR and/or BLS certification is often required.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and general office software.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills with a friendly and empathetic demeanor.
• Organizational Skills: Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a dynamic setting.
