What this job involves –

Main location: Fort Lauderdale, FL (with ability to sometimes travel to West Palm Beach and Miami).

Come join our team in South FL! Our client is a Fortune 500 Company media company. 

The Maintenance Mechanic supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. Assists Senior Building Engineer in maintenance and repair efforts, as well as independently performing defined tasks. Performs inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc.

Your day to day:

Maintenance

• Performance and assistance of ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other installed systems, equipment, and other components.
• Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations.
• General interior maintenance – painting touch-ups, power washing, hang doors, minor repairs to office furniture systems and repair doors.
• Assist the Senior Building Engineer in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment and/or as directed
• Assist with minor moves of office furniture, machinery, equipment and other materials as requested
• Replace lighting and ballasts
• Assist with cleaning HVAC coils, change filters and belts.
• Other tasks as assigned

Safety

• Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary
• Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
• Maintain compliance to State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws.
• Must complete all required safety trainings as scheduled
• Complies with all policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials.

Administrative

• Input and manage work order tickets in real time to client portal.
• Utilize JLL CMO system for emergency reporting.
• Escalating problems or issues to Senior Building Engineer, Facilities Manager and Senior Facilities Manager
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft products (Teams & Outlook)
• Attend work and safety meetings as required

Other

• Assist with miscellaneous duties and tasks assigned to help the office and building.
• Backup to Senior Building Engineer when on PTO or out of the office.
• Being self-motivated and having initiative. Ability to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to work overtime when needed and to travel to West Palm Beach and Miami offices as needed. Mileage reimbursement available.

Education/training

• High school diploma or equivalent

Years of relevant experience

• Have a minimum of 1- 3 years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical.

• Ability to prioritize tasks

Certifications

Licenses/Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. and climb up to 30 ft ladders.
• Position requires frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving.
• Must pass background, drug/alcohol
• HVAC Certification a plus.
