Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, and in collaboration with the Associate Chief Medical Officer serving as staff clinician at TrueCare.  The Licensed Acupuncturist will examine patients and collects medical information to determine appropriate course of treatment. The Licensed Acupuncturist will perform all treatments and services in accordance with the State of California acupuncture licensing requirements.

Responsibilities: 
  • Assess patient(s) condition to obtain information about their symptoms, medical history, diet, lifestyle and psychological health. Explain potential treatment plan.
  • Utilizes acupuncture to stimulate certain points on or near the surface of the body by the insertion of needles to prevent or modify the perception of pain or to normalize physiological functions.
  • Perform and/or prescribe the use of oriental massage, acupressure, breathing techniques, exercise or nutrition, including the incorporation of drugless substances and herbs as dietary supplements to promote health.
  • Administer acupuncture treatment using sterile, single use needles at specific points on the patient's body, with the goal of treating illness or injury, reducing pain, prevent or modify the perception of pain and/or to normalize physiological functions.
  • Obtain informed consent prior to administering acupuncture treatment.
  • Evaluate the patient(s) response and progress to the acupuncture treatment, modify treatment as needed.
  • Document all treatments and patient(s) response to therapy in medical chart, in accordance with TrueCare policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with referring provider and/or primary care provider as necessary.
  • Maintain and adhere to TrueCare established and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Maintains cleanliness of treatment rooms, supplies and sterility of needles used. .

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited School of Acupuncture.
  • Graduate of an Acupuncture Therapy, Oriental or Chinese Medicine college accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).
  • Completion of Acupuncture Therapy clinical training.
  • California State licensure to practice Acupuncture Therapy.
  • Current California Acupuncture Board Wall License (WL).
  • Certified by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine).
  • Knowledge of Acupuncture Therapy and related treatments.
  • Knowledge of related physical therapy and acupuncture techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of modern therapeutic treatments.
  • Familiarity with the Federal and State rules, regulations and practices in a Community Health Center.
The pay range for this role is $90,000 to $140,000 on an annual basis.
