Village Ace is seeking a knowledgeable, hands-on Horticulturist to lead daily operations within our garden center. This role is perfect for someone who combines strong plant science expertise with proven leadership skills and a passion for exceptional customer service.

You’ll oversee staff, maintain the health and presentation of our plant inventory, ensure smooth operational flow, and create a welcoming environment that keeps customers returning season after season.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Operations

• Recruit, train, schedule, and motivate team members in your department.
• Set clear expectations and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
• Collaborate closely with store leadership to maintain smooth daily operations.
• Foster a positive, customer-first culture across the entire garden center.

Horticulture Expertise

• Manage and maintain all plant material and supporting inventory.
• Diagnose and treat plant pests, diseases, and environmental issues.
• Ensure optimal watering, fertilizing, pruning, and overall plant care standards.
• Provide expert guidance to staff and customers on plant selection, care, and troubleshooting.

Customer Experience

• Create an engaging, educational environment for customers of all experience levels.
• Deliver friendly, knowledgeable support—ensuring every guest leaves confident and satisfied.
• Maintain attractive, well-organized displays that enhance the customer shopping experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or related field.
  (Associate degree + strong experience also accepted)
• 3–5 years of experience in a garden center, nursery, landscaping, or similar environment.
• Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift/move products as needed.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and a passion for plants and people.
