Overview NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) is seeking an Aircrew Member to support aircraft operations at Edwards Air Force Base, California. The role involves flying sorties for NASA and its customers to ensure quality and safety in operations across various aircraft, including the ER-2 (U-2) and others such as Gulfstream, Beechcraft King Air, C-20A, F-18, F-15, RQ-4 Global Hawk, T-34C, and TG-14. Deployments are routine for this position, both within the continental U.S. and overseas. The salary range is $170,000 to $185,000, subject to factors such as responsibilities, experience, education, and location. Responsibilities include: Conducting flight operations per FAA, OEM, and other directives. Maintaining performance standards and safety protocols. Demonstrating emergency procedures and understanding aircraft systems. Participating in required training and meetings. Performing on-site tasks for safe operations. Supporting administrative and scheduling tasks. Other duties as assigned. Candidate must maintain proficiency and meet annual requirements as per NASA policies. Training and physical assessments will be provided by NASA personnel. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical or life sciences, mathematics, or related field. Ability to pass drug screenings and obtain a US passport valid during employment. Military or civilian aviation training/experience; FAA commercial pilot license with instrument, multiengine, and single-engine land ratings. Minimum of 1,500 flight hours as pilot in command; preference for U-2 experience and recent qualification. Must meet security and medical requirements, including a NASA Flight Medical Certification. Experience: Experience supporting NASA or similar government operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting. Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET clearance. Work Environment & Physical Demands: Light to medium physical work, including outdoor and flight line conditions. Ability to tolerate various weather conditions and perform physical tasks. Visual and auditory acuity required for safety and communication. Additional Information: This job is active and accepting applications.
