Job Details Job Location : Sheridan, MI Salary Range : Undisclosed Description Position: ER – Physician Reports To: ED Medical Director Schedule: PRN Position Location/Department: Sheridan Community Hospital Job Summary: Emergency Department Physician triages, assesses, plans, and provides patient care to patients in an emergency unit. Assesses patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries and maintains clinical records in line with regulations and standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides medical treatment to patients with emergency and critical conditions. Instructs and counsels patients, performs physical examinations, conducts and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic studies, and laboratory tests. Resuscitates and stabilizes patients and transitions care to an appropriate endpoint whether that be ICU, general inpatient bed, another provider, another hospital, or home. Obtains health histories and assesses the state of patient health in order to determine health care needs and documents findings in the medical record. Performs, orders and interprets routine laboratory tests; notifies patients of results. Refers patients to appropriate specialists for follow-up care. May routinely perform such therapeutic procedures as (but is not limited to): laceration repair, wound care, cast and splint application, abscess incision and drainage, procedural sedation, regional block anesthesia, arthrocentesis, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, urethral catheterization, establishing venous access, arterial puncture and blood gas sampling. Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed. Administers medications and injections; sutures minor lacerations. Performs other related duties as assigned. Documents appropriately in the medical record by accurately recording and reporting patient conditions; assures medical records are completed as required, when patients are transferred participates in any scheduled review for quality and completeness of documentation. Instructs patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides necessary patient information. Manages medical and surgical emergencies. Attends required meetings; participates in committees as required. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Maintains and ensures confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI). Qualifications Education, Experience and Other Requirements: Medical Degree from accredited medical institution or program. At least 3 years of residency program completed. License to practice medicine in the state of Michigan. Completion of Board Certification preferred or in process to complete. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work and think quickly in a high-stress environment. Physical Demands: The job requires fifty percent (50%) of the time standing and/or walking, frequent lifting, pushing, and/or pulling loads up to 25 pounds. Accident/Health Hazards: The tasks performed on the job produce exposure to injuries (cuts, fractures, strains, burns, etc.) obtained in use of equipment, hazardous material or health hazards (based on contact with communicable diseases) that could result in permanent or long-term illness or injury.
