Job Description

The Data Entry Specialist is responsible for accurately entering survivor and case data into the CAN and NCEM Disaster Case Management database. This role ensures that program data is timely, reliable, and compliant with reporting requirements. In addition, the Data Entry Specialist provides essential clerical support to case management teams, helping maintain smooth and efficient program operations.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Data Entry Specialist : Pay commensurate with experience.

Data Entry Specialist Responsibilities Include:

  • Enter survivor and case data into CAN and NCEM databases with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Verify data for completeness, consistency, and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Generate basic reports as requested by supervisors and case management teams.
  • Provide clerical support, including document preparation, filing, and correspondence.
  • Assist with maintaining electronic and paper records in an organized and secure manner.
  • Follow data security and privacy protocols in compliance with FEMA and NCEM standards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Data Entry Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in data entry or clerical roles.
  • Typing/Data Entry certification preferred.
  • FEMA privacy training required or ability to complete upon hire.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal

The Data Entry Specialist must meet all North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) personnel requirements to be eligible for assignment under this contract.

Background Investigation: Candidate must successfully complete a criminal background check prior to hire.

Disclosures: Candidate must not have any felony convictions or convictions involving fraud, misappropriation, deception, or moral turpitude. Any regulatory sanctions, pending investigations, or civil litigation within the last three years must be disclosed as part of the vetting process.
