CBIZ is assisting our distribution client in their search for a Controller near Mentor, OH .
Job Overview:
We are currently searching for a Controller to join our east-side industrial client. This position is responsible for the day-to day accounting operations of the company, to include the production of month-end and periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
The ideal candidate will have proven success as both a hands-on accounting/finance professional, as well as a high-performing contributor. They will be collaborative, strategic, and serve as a valued member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the CFO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
·Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
·Oversee and execute the operations the accounting and finance functions, including the monthly close, with the assistance of a small team.
·Must establish processes adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives and providing accurate and timely information to the management team and board of directors.
·Coordinate the preparation of the corporate monthly and annual financial report.
·Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
·Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
·Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
·Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management with a high sense of urgency.
·Develop a full understanding of work orders, work flow and the accounting system.
·Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
·Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
·Other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
Education and Experience
·Bachelor’s degree in either Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
·CPA highly desirable
·8+ years’ experience in accounting in a manufacturing, construction or distribution environment, with at least 5 years leading and developing a high-performing team in a multi-location business.

·Above average computer skills, including but not limited to advanced Excel and strong accounting systems experience.
·Strong interpersonal and communication skills; well spoken, with the ability to represent the company to employees, customers, and outside vendors.

·Ability to mentor and motivate others.
·Self-motivated and self-directed.
