Join to apply for the Cloud Engineer SME role at SAIC . SAIC is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support an IT Service Management effort for USTRANSCOM located at Scott Air Force Base (AFB) in Illinois. The USTC Managed Information Technology Services (MITS) contract aims to provide strategic, technical, and program management guidance to facilitate the modernization of the combatant command’s infrastructure, systems, and applications. This support will be provided to the USTC Command, Control, Communications & Cyber Systems Directorate (TCJ6). Responsibilities: Develop and implement commercial cloud solution architectures focusing on security, scalability, and resiliency. Plan, design, and manage migration, re-platforming, and operation of complex cloud IL5/IL6 environments within JWCC and on-premises enclaves. Define, administer, and implement security processes and assist with platform transformation. Ensure adherence to DoD Cloud Computing policies. Provide detailed recommendations on hardware/software selection, cloud service provider choices, and migration techniques. Develop and test cloud and virtualization systems. Maintain expertise in industry standards, cloud architectures, deployment models, and automation tools. Evaluate new cloud technologies to enhance services. Perform systems engineering activities including requirements definition, system analysis, and integration. Translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Participate with senior management in strategic planning. Make decisions on administrative or project matters and serve as a technical advisor. Qualifications: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. AWS Cloud Engineer Certification and experience as an AWS Cloud Engineer. At least one IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CECCNA-Security, CySA+). Cloud or virtualization certification (Azure, AWS, etc.), with a preference for Azure. Experience with AWS ECS/EC2/CLI and best practices. Proficiency in designing and managing AWS cloud applications, including GovCloud. Experience with Linux (Redhat Enterprise), networking, scripting (PowerShell/Bash), and JSON/YAML. Understanding of Active Directory, Group Policies, STIGs, and domain components. Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and prepare technical documentation. Experience mentoring team members and working with government clients. Knowledge of ITSM tools. Desired Qualifications: MA/MS degree. 15+ years of experience. Experience with Zero Trust architectures, VDI solutions, and AWS monitoring tools. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation (CloudFormation, Terraform), and security capabilities. ITIL V4 Foundations Certification.
