Job Title: Chemical Technician I
Location: Elmwood Park, NJ 07407
Duration: 12 months
Pay Rate: $21/hr – $25/hr
Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking a Chemical Technician I to support day-to-day chemical operations at an industrial manufacturing site. This role involves chemical handling, basic laboratory testing, equipment troubleshooting, and regular communication with on-site personnel to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction. Training will be provided for most technical tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage chemical inventory and assist with filling totes or coordinating tote fills with customers
• Perform basic laboratory testing, including solids/water clarification, microbiological plate testing, and wet-end charge testing (training provided)
• Assist with troubleshooting processes, including simple pump drawdowns and monitoring program performance
• Communicate daily with on-site personnel to address requests and ensure program effectiveness
• Provide weekly updates through a simple performance status report
  

Required Skills

• Mechanical aptitude, including basic pump repair
• Strong communication skills and customer-friendly demeanor
• Basic understanding of chemistry (training provided)
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience in the paper or related manufacturing industry
• Laboratory analysis or testing experience
• Mechanical experience, such as motor or pump repair
  

Soft Skills

• Strong communication and listening skills
• Curious, proactive, and detail-oriented mindset
  

Education & Experience

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent
• Preferred: 2–4 year degree, preferably in science or math-related fields
