We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Advanced Placement (AP) Psychology Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychology, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to preparing students for the AP Psychology exam. The AP Psychology Teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering a rigorous and engaging curriculum, fostering a supportive learning environment, and promoting a deep understanding of psychological principles.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive AP Psychology curriculum that aligns with College Board standards and school goals.
  • Teach AP Psychology courses, covering topics such as research methods, biological bases of behavior, sensation and perception, learning, cognition, and abnormal psychology.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and critical thinking.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and resources to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Prepare students for the AP Psychology exam through rigorous instruction, practice exams, and review sessions.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in psychology and AP curriculum changes.
  • Host a monthly in-person convening of students taking the course.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Valid state teaching certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably at the high school level and in AP Psychology.
  • Strong knowledge of psychological principles and AP Psychology curriculum.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and software, including online curriculum, Google Classroom.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Successful online teaching experience as well as knowledge of online platforms (E.g. Zoom, Nearpod)
  • Experience with teaching AP Psychology and preparing students for the AP exam.
  • Knowledge of and experience with College Board standards and requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a positive school culture.
