Join to apply for the Adjunct Pool (2024-25)/Kinesiology role at Point Loma Nazarene University 1 month ago Be among the first 25 applicants Join to apply for the Adjunct Pool (2024-25)/Kinesiology role at Point Loma Nazarene University The Department of Kinesiology is seeking candidates for adjunct teaching positions in the undergraduate programs (Applied Health Science and Exercise & Sport Science) and the Master of Science in Kinesiology to teach courses in areas such as Biomechanics, Fitness Assessment and Exercise Prescription, Sport Management, Exercise Physiology, Strength Training, Corrective Exercise, and other courses. Qualified applicants should have an advanced degree in Kinesiology or a closely-related field. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate effective teaching and service and embrace the mission of Point Loma Nazarene University. A desire to involve students in research is preferred. The department consists of 13 full-time faculty members committed to high quality teaching, service, and applied scholarship. There are approximately 300 majors pursuing degrees in Applied Health Science, Athletic Training, or Exercise and Sport Science. Adjunct faculty must have knowledge of instructional strategies appropriate for undergraduate or graduate teaching, and are expected to teach courses, invest in students, participate in institutional activities, and involve students in research or professional experience. Qualifications include Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred, MA/MS accepted, experience in professional organizations related to exercise science, commitment to Christian liberal arts education, and support of the university's religious and educational goals. Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement is required. The position is contingent upon successful background check. The number of adjunct instructors hired varies by semester. Approved applicants remain in the adjunct pool for the school year and must reapply for subsequent years. Official transcripts are required before contract issuance. Applicants must submit Curriculum Vitae, Cover Letter, Statement of Personal Faith, Philosophy of Teaching in Christian Higher Education, and references.
